Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board
Examination Information
In order for the Board to approve you to sit for an examination, you must be seeking a Wyoming license. This means you have a valid application which requires the examination as part of the complete application or are licensed as a provisional licensee working towards independent licensure.
If you took the exam as part of your schooling or licensure in another jurisdiction, you will need to request that your examination score be transferred to Wyoming. Please contact the test agency on how to complete the transfer.
Applicants are allowed only three (3) attempts to pass the exam requirement. The Board may allow an applicant to make one (1) more attempt to pass the requirement upon approval of a remediation plan submitted by the applicant.
Addictions
Certified Addictions Practitioner Assistant: Per Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Rules you must complete the NCAC Level I examination or other examination as may be approved by the Board. Once you have submitted your application and it is approved to allow you to sit for the examination, you will be sent information on how to register for the exam. Applicants that register through the information provided by the Board will have their scores sent directly to the Board.
Certified Addictions Practitioner: Per Chapter 3, Section 4 of the Rules you must complete the NCAC Level II examination, International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (AODA) exam, or other examination as may be approved by the Board. Once you have submitted your application and it is approved to allow you to sit for the examination, you will be sent information on how to register for the exam. Applicants that register through the information provided by the Board will have their scores sent directly to the Board.
Provisional Addictions Therapist and Licensed Addictions Therapist: Per Chapter 8, Section 5 of the Rules you must complete the NCAC Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) exam, International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC) exam, or other examination as may be approved by the Board. Once you have submitted your application and it is approved to allow you to sit for the examination or with the approval of your provisional license, you will be sent information on how to register for the exam. Applicants that register through the information provided by the Board will have their scores sent directly to the Board.
Score Reporting:
NAADAC provides score reports every two weeks to the Mental Health Professions Licensing Board. https://www.naadac.org/testing-information
IC&RC takes approximately four to six weeks for paper and pencil exams and two to three weeks for CBT exams. Preliminary computer based exam scores are provided to candidates immediately following completion of the exam. https://internationalcredentialing.org/takinganexam
Counseling
Certified Mental Health Worker: Per Chapter 5, Section 5 of the Rules you must complete the Human Services-Board Certified Practitioner Examination (HS-BCPE) or other examination as may be approved by the Board. Once you have submitted your application and it is approved to allow you to sit for the examination, you will be sent information on how to register for the exam. Applicants that register through the information provided by the Board will have their scores sent directly to the Board.
Provisional Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor: Per Chapter 11, Section 5 of the Rules you must complete the The National Board for Certified Counselor’s (NBCC) National Counselor Examination (NCE), the National Clinical Mental Health Examination (NCMHE), the Certification Examination administered by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC), or other examination as may be approved by the Board. Once you have submitted your application and it is approved to allow you to sit for the examination or with the approval of your provisional license, you will be sent information on how to register for the exam. Applicants that register through the information provided by the Board will have their scores sent directly to the Board.
Score Reporting:
For NBCC, the score reporting process can take up to 8 weeks to complete. NBCC provides score reports during the second full week of each month to the Mental Health Professions Licensing Board. https://www.nbcc.org/exams/administration
CRCC wills provide pass or fail results at the end of your examination. You must request those results be sent to the Board Office. https://crccertification.com/crc-exam-preparation/
Marriage and Family Therapy
Provisional Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist: Per Chapter 10, Section 5 of the Rules you must complete the the Association of Marital and Family Therapists Regulatory Boards (AMFTRB) examination or other examination as may be approved by the Board. Once you have submitted your application and it is approved to allow you to sit for the examination or with the approval of your provisional license, you will be sent information on how to register for the exam. Applicants that register through the information provided by the Board will have their scores sent directly to the Board.
Score Reporting:

Social Work
Certified Social Worker: Per Chapter 6, Section 4 of the Rules you must complete the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) examination at the Bachelor’s Level or other examination approved by the Board. Once you have submitted your application and it is approved to allow you to sit for the examination, you will be sent information on how to register for the exam. Applicants that register through the information provided by the Board will have their scores sent directly to the Board.
Provisional Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Social Worker: Per Chapter 9, Section 5 of the Rules you must complete the the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) examination at the Clinical Level examination or other examination as may be approved by the Board.
Per the testing agreement with ASWB, those wishing to sit for the Clinical examination must demonstrate either two (2) years full time clinical work or have completed the hours required for licensure in Chapter 9, Section 4 in no less than eighteen (18) months. Supervisors must complete the Verification and Evaluation of Supervised Experience (VESE) form and submit it directly to the Board Office to provide that the requirements have been met. Once it is determined the testing agreement requirements are met, the applicant will be sent information on how to register for the exam. Applicants that register through the information provided by the Board will have their scores sent directly to the Board.
Score Reporting:
